The Art of Elda Isela Ford

Elda Isela Ford is an natural Witch who uses the medium of art as initiations of  Magickial Practice. Her primary influence esoterically is Aleister Crowley, Rosaleen Norton, Cameron and Austin Osman Spare. She adores many styles of art and poetry such as Shelly, Poe, Milton and others. Davcina (Elda’s alias) considers herself Thelemic, practices various disciplines of Witchcraft and Sorcery.Black Magic is not a feared practice for Elda either, knowing if undertakenwith Will that the results can be positive for the process of self evolution. Davcina uses her art as her Magickial weapon, from which she communicates with her Holy Guardian Angel.  This was brought about through her art (specifically when she was illustrating “The Book of the Witch Moon” by Michael Ford.) and continues to illustrate her dreams and magickial workings.

Being what I consider a Magickial artist, I have manydifferent astral influences for creating paintings or drawings. During thestate of Trance I will catch glimpses of various energies or elementals, as ifthey sing to me at times. That means it flows so well and the visions can be transferred to canvas easily.

Magickial Art is very special because it is very personal and it is a symbol of yourself, no matter what you are painting. I do consider my art to be Thelemic in nature, positive in it’s light although there is always a dark or shadow side withinit. I intend to create gateways, astral passages in which initiations or sorcery may be practiced. As a woman I am quite in tune with my natural witchspirit, thus using my ability to the full extent. The Goddess within each woman must be brought to the surface, and I consider Thelema to be an effective tool. All the woman-hating rumors about Aleister Crowley were simply rubbish; The Lawis for all on many different levels of the human condition. We must ascend tothe next level; a personal responsibility of every individual who would betterhis/her self. Man and Woman in my opinion should be entirely equal depending on abilities and I wish my art to embody the most positive aspects of the sexes. The darkness of my art is something that is a significant part of me, the devourer and dragon lies within. ” -Conversation with Elda Ford, October 2000.
